As a graduating senior in Spring Hill College, I am working on an ongoing research project with the aim of creating one final piece before graduating. The premise for this project is to contact a music artist and work with them to make an album, a music booklet, a CD case, and a container to package the whole product in. The artist I selected is Mister Scoops, who is an underground artist known for his odd and unique music. Mister Scoops' website is: http://scoopsmeatland.blogspot.com/
The concept for the name came from one of Mister Scoops' rants on twitter. Since there are not many lyrics in his songs, I had to do a bit of profiling and research to find a title and look that matched his social media image properly.
The goal with the CD case and poster was to push the "out of register" concept to its final conclusion. I used pictures taken of my screen to use as textures which I then overlayed in Photoshop to give the appearance of an actual screen photo. As for the extra images on the poster, the inspiration came from a limited edition CD from a sibling's favorite K-Pop band. In their packaging they included the colors, pictures, and illustrations used in their branding. This was a concept which I wanted to explore with the poster.
